Since 2009, 7th of July marks world chocolate day. While admitting that some of us are chocolate addicts, for me, this day is a big excuse to consume some of my favorite organic dark chocolate. This day also serves as a special occasion to add voice to condemn the irresponsible child labour practices on cocoa farms across Africa.
I chose dark chocolates with a minimum of 60% cocoa mass as my favorite because of it’s several scientifically proven health benefits which ranges from its ability to lower the risk of heart disease, helps with weight loss, boost brain function, reduces blood pressure and improve blood flow and of course it is a powerful source of antioxidants and lastly, I love dark chocolates for it’s sharp but smooth and intense taste.
Woolworth Food have proven to be my favorite retailer of quality, homemade dark chocolate. Firstly, for the retailer’s support of responsible cocoa farming, and secondly for increasingly patronizing small scale farmers and also for its certification by UTZ which represents the world’s largest program for sustainable farming of coffee and cocoa.
Chocolate, most especially dark chocolate is good for your body and #WorldChocolateDay is an opportunity for you to tap into the many benefits the cocoa beans brings.
